The Youth Vision Project aims to increase young people’s chances of having ‘better futures’ through developing employability and enterprise skills.
During April to June 2016 the project engaged with 9 participants and 5 were eligible to proceed on the programme. The 5 participants received personal development and confidence building and were given the opportunity to attend business workshops to learn about business and to network with clients and increase their confidence and communication skills. They regularly attended meetings with team members and worked with a variety of different people to build on their team working skills.
The participants carried out work experience in Marketing, Administration, Graphic design and Bookkeeping. The Coventry University & Coventry 4 Good Community Grant contributed to the costs of running two cohorts of Radio Plus’s Routes to Employment media and job readiness training scheme and piloting a scheme with Coventry University to bring together young people and Broadcasting undergraduates.
The first cohort was held during May and June 2016 and ran for 13 days over 7 weeks with six unemployed or NEET young people completing the course. All of the young people developed transferable media skills such as research, written and verbal communication, interviewing, editing, IT, team work and broadcasting, as well as honing their job application and interview skills. They were joined for the final two weeks by four Coventry University 2nd year Broadcasting undergraduates. FareShare are looking for volunteers to step up to the plate and give 3 hours of their time to play a vital role in the fight against food poverty in the UK, by asking shoppers to donate store-cupboard staples at our Neighbourhood Food Collection event taking place in Tesco stores across the UK from the 30th of June until the 2nd of July. Your role is to encourage people to give. A small contribution makes a big difference!
In just 3 hours you can collect enough store-cupboard staples for five hundred meals for people in need. It’s a good opportunity to volunteer as a group or on your own, and to meet new people.

On Tuesday 21st June 2016 Coventry University and Coventry 4 Good held a celebration event at St Peter’s Centre in Hillfields to recognise and celebrate the work of 7 voluntary and community organisations who are engaging Coventry University staff, students and local residents in a range of projects that are making a difference in communities around the university campus.
