How far would you go to fight food poverty this year? How about your local Tesco?

FareShare are looking for volunteers to step up to the plate and give 3 hours of their time to play a vital role in the fight against food poverty in the UK, by asking shoppers to donate store-cupboard staples at our Neighbourhood Food Collection event taking place in Tesco stores across the UK from the 30th of June until the 2nd of July. Your role is to encourage people to give. A small contribution makes a big difference!

In just 3 hours you can collect enough store-cupboard staples for five hundred meals for people in need. It’s a good opportunity to volunteer as a group or on your own, and to meet new people.

FareShare save fresh, quality surplus food from the food industry that would otherwise be destined for waste. They then redistribute the food to charities and community projects across the UK who transform it into nutritious meals for vulnerable people: last year FareShare supplied enough food for 17.7 million meals!

The Neighbourhood Food Collection makes this possible. In order to provide the charity and community food members with a reliable, varied and balanced food supply, FareShare supplement the fresh surplus food we receive from the food industry with the long-life foods donated during the Food Collection.
