What is Employer Supported Volunteering?
Employer Supported Volunteering (ESV) is when employers offer their employees paid time off to benefit their local community. It is a great way of fulfilling a corporate social responsibility policy and building a reputation as a responsible business.
How can Coventry 4 Good strengthen your ESV offer?
- Knowledge and understanding of Coventry charitable organisations and their needs
- A brokerage service designed to match individuals / businesses interests, skills and availability to voluntary tasks
What are the benefits to your business?
- The company image, reputation and networks are enhanced with customers, employees and the local community
- Develop employees’ skills
- Improve employees’ morale, motivation and team working
- High calibre employees are attracted and retained
- Valuable insight into the community in which you operate
Your business can support employees to give their time and develop their skills in four ways:
Team challenges — one-off practical tasks to improve local sites such as refurbishing a community centre or archaeological site renovation. We work closely with you to ensure that you get the most from your day. You will have a dedicated member of staff who will organise and supervise the activity, taking the stress away from you. We will work with you to find an activity that suits your business and will challenge your staff.
Providing business expertise — completing a short project for a charity, e.g. writing a business plan or designing a website
Donate resources — are you updating your office equipment or changing your branding? Don’t send your old furniture or stationery to landfill, we know local groups that can put them to good use.
Become a regular volunteer — a variety of activities from mentoring a young person, visiting an older person or becoming a trustee. Local trustees are able to make a difference to the management and vision of an organisation. You and your fellow board members are responsible for overseeing the organisation and taking decisions around strategy, finance and HR.
Through your support you can make a real difference to your local community, enabling the organisation you support to deliver improved services to Coventry residents. You will lead the way in building important partnerships between the private, public and voluntary sectors, reducing barriers between different sections of society and become an example of how a business can be an important partner in shaping the lives of people in our community.
