On Wednesday 1st October some of the Coventry 4 Good Team were invited to take part in the Student Shopping Night in the Lower Precinct, Coventry City Centre.

It was a chance for the team to highlight Coventry 4 Good to students studying in Coventry and ask them to support us while they're here. We told them about the volunteer opportunities available with Coventry 4 Good and how they could get involved.

We asked for donations in return for having a picture taken with some of our fun props and the students loved it!

It was a great event and we look forward to working with the students in the future.

  • a company offering to assemble a team to help repaint a community centre
  • an IT expert offering support to small organisations with their computers

Many thanks to our friends at the Chamber of Commerce for a great day for Coventry 4 Good.

Voluntary Action Coventry staff picked up their Coventry 4 Good T’ shirts and collection buckets this morning en route to Sainsbury’s in Trinity Street to promote the initiative with shoppers and raise funds for local good causes in the City.

Staff spoke with people as they entered and left the store, sharing information about Coventry 4 Good as well as helping shoppers to pack their bags.  A couple of the team even helped one customer carry their purchase of garden furniture to the taxi rank.

Many shoppers stopped to find out more about the collection and were really generous with their donations.  One lady said ‘It’s great to be able to contribute funds to help groups in Coventry, although I am too old to volunteer now I know how hard volunteers work and it’s nice to be able to support them’
