Calling all Coventry-based community groups: do you need help from willing groups of volunteers to take part in a volunteering day? This could be sorting out your exterior space, decorating your community room, helping you to go through donated items.... you name it! We work with local companies and businesses who are only too willing to donate their time in group volunteering settings, to help local good causes. If you have a task you would love to complete, but which needs that extra push of energy, get in touch with Coventry 4 Good, and we will see what we can do!

VAC and Coventry 4 Good had a great day at The Godiva Festival in War Memorial Park in June. We set up the ever-popular Wheel of Chance in the Family Field: some children seemed just as happy to take their chances by winning a Coventry 4 Good pen, wristband or leaflet, as a toy or some sweets!

Meanwhile in the Urban Youth Tent we took the opportunity to tell Coventry's young people about local volunteering opportunities, while showing visitors to our table how to make a fantastic gift bag out of a single piece of brightly coloured A4 paper. Completed bags were taken away filled with sweets - in return for a donation for Coventry 4 Good.

Thanks to everyone who came to see us, and of course thanks so much for your donations - your contributions are so valuable to Coventry's good causes.more

26th City of Coventry South Brownies were a recipient of the recent Coventry 4 Good grant scheme. Jean Rawlings, Brownie Leader, wrote to Coventry 4 Good to thank them for making their 'Evening in the Woods' event possible.

Jean wrote "Please pass on my sincere thanks to the people who made this possible for my Brownies. For some it was their first time at Ryton and for many it was their first taste of the fun of camping and outdoor activities".

Coventry 4 Good invited a group of volunteers from IT company Perkin Elmer to lend a hand clearing and preparing a community plot at Cheylesmore Allotments, joining forces with the allotments’ regular volunteers. The plot had not been used for a while and was overgrown with grass and weeds – so volunteers dug the turf, raked and levelled the ground and finished the day by planting vegetables.

Some of Perkin Elmer’s volunteers had come from outside Coventry to take part. They commented: “We really enjoyed spending time together working in the sunshine and meeting other people. Digging the allotments was hard work, but knowing it would help the local community to plant and grow their own food spurred us all on. Seeing what we had achieved at the end of the day was extremely rewarding. We wish the local community all the best and hope the plot proves to be very fruitful.”
