On Monday 15th December 9 volunteers took part in Age UK's annual hamper wrapping activity. Age UK called upon the people of Coventry to help to make the festive season brighter for lonely, vulnerable and isolated people during Christmas.

Volunteers sorted out the donations, wrapped the boxes and filled the hampers ready for them to be delivered. 9 volunteers and 2 Voluntary Action Coventry colleagues were set the target of making 25 hampers during their session of volunteering. They made over double their target, wrapping and packing over 50 hampers.

Hampers typically include a present, such as toiletries, water bottle, blanket, gloves, scarf, food, non-alcoholic drinks and a festive greeting. The recipients of these wonderful hampers will include lonely, vulnerable and isolated individuals - many with poor physical and / or mental health. All of the recipients are over the age of 50; their hampers will be hand-delivered with a smile and words of comfort for Christmas.

Sarah from Age UK said ‘Thanks so much for your help yesterday. You really helped make a big difference.'
