Volunteers have been brightening up dull November Fridays by getting together at our Volunteering Shop in Bull Yard, to create stunning Coventry 4 Good Christmas cards. With the help of VAC’s very talented volunteers Tanya Nicholls and Rachael Mackintosh, we’ve been joined by our friends from Arty-Folks, students from Coventry University, VSquad volunteers, and members of the public, to hand-craft a wealth of distinctive and beautiful cards.

Under the Coventry 4 Good brand the cards are instantly recognisable, as each card carries a label saying ‘Made by the people of Coventry’. Our volunteers have been uncovering their inner graphic designer, and one participant who came back for a second session, commented “I wouldn’t have missed it for the world”.

A passer-by, Christine Rees, liked the cards so much that she has chosen them this year to give to her fellow residents in sheltered accommodation, making a donation £28.00 to Coventry 4 Good in the process. Meanwhile, other cards are winging their way to Zimbabwe, after one supporter of Coventry 4 Good chose the cards to send to her friends and family there.

We have been incredibly lucky to be using almost 100% donated materials to make the cards, courtesy of Hobbycraft, Mary Hart of Adventure Centre Wyken, and some of our team members and volunteers. We are also extremely grateful to a Coventry resident who due to downsizing, donated a huge amount of excellent quality card-making materials to us.

To pick up your set of unique Coventry 4 Good Christmas cards, pop into the Volunteer Shop at 4 Bull Yard, (open Monday-Friday 10.00-3.00pm), or to our Head Office at 29 Warwick Road. We are asking for a suggested donation of £1.00 per card: proceeds to go to Coventry 4 Good.
